“What Love Lived God’s Way Looks Like” (Romans 12:9-21)

FOCUS

One of the biggest deterrents to the free flowing & effective spread of the gospel is no doubt those who claim to have responded to it by receiving Christ (Mark 1:1 & John 1:12-13) only to live a life that seemingly contradicts how good the good news is & gives no indication of what being set free from sin, death & satan looks like.

Today we’ll hear God tell us what He’s looking & longing for when it comes to us living a life of love. When we take to heart His instruction in this passage from Romans chapter 12, we’ll find ourselves finding a new experience & expression of loving & doing some things while detesting & refusing others.

Loving God’s Way …

1. begins with no hypocrisy & ends with conquering evil with good.

The bookends of this passage are clear, concise, compelling & convicting.

Romans 12:9 & 21

2. delights in & displays all of its positive & productive expressions

while refusing & rejecting any beliefs or behaviors that would refute it.

There are some specific do’s & don’ts when it comes to expressing it.

Romans 12:9-21 / Matthew 7:24-29

Making It Real

1] Have you ever noticed the clear connection between these two verses?

2] Which of these verses spoke most clearly to you today? How will you respond?

Action Step

Keep this passage before you this coming week. Starting today, prayerfully ponder two verses each day & journal your thoughts concerning them. You’ll end this Saturday with “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
